Why Instagram Images Will Take on a Sense of... →
We agree with the author that Facebook is clunky and confusing in terms of storing (instagram or any) photos; however, there are many options outside Flickr for alternative storage. Picasa/Google+, 500px, Zenfolio, your own website, to name a few.

One Burbn, One Scotch, One Beer
Thorough-good.
parislemon:
A few years ago, I got a frantic email one evening. It was from a young entrepreneur named Kevin Systrom. “Hey MG, I saw you signed up for Burbn…” is how it started. He was freaked out. Someone had told me about the service and the sign up wasn’t locked down. But Kevin did not want me to write about his fledgling idea just yet. We hopped on the phone. Of course I...

From National Geographic’s adventure blog, you will find many tips for shooting films on the iPhone 4S interlaced within this interview of the producer of the music video.
We intentionally shot in the evening hours when we knew the light would look beautiful—and as amazing as the new camera on the 4S is, the new software...

Sorta, but Google so often touts their Galaxy Nexuses [sp?] as a pure Android experience, without any carrier meddling. Only, it’s not “pure” anymore
If memory serves me right only the Nexus One was touted as a carrier-separate experience. I don’t find anything from Google about the Nexus S or the Galaxy Nexus advertising it as anything but “a phone from Google”. The...

Good article explaining Google and Microsoft’s worry about Siri - loss of ad revenues for one reason. It’s also fun to imagine the day when all your Apple devices, including your Mac, are Siri-enabled and integrated.

iMessage & Siri: Choose your iPhone 4S Data Plan...
Those upgrading or buying a new iPhone 4S should re-consider the data plans they are buying and ultimately the carrier they choose or else possibly face some ugly overage charges. If you send many txts with iMessage or plan to use Siri, the new voice assistant, make sure your carrier’s data plan (Verizon, AT&T, or Sprint) has room for the data used by these apps in addition to your...

The Carrier Question →

Now that that iPhone 4S is out there, the biggest question seems to be: which carrier to go with in the U.S.?
AT&T gives you speed — they’re the only network currently supporting the 14.4 down that Apple mentioned on stage yesterday. But AT&T blows in big cities like San Francisco and New York. It’s hard to vote for speed when you can’t even get a...

5 Simple Things You Can Do to Make Your Web Images... →
Simple tips as described but do not forget these cornerstones of photo editing. One more advanced tip that I took away regarding B&W editing:
“Sometimes when I turn an image to black and white, I’ll play around with the luminosity of some of the colors,” she said. “Most of the skin tones that are in an image are going to be within that orange and yellow spectrum. So,...

Field Cam Makes iPad Camera Easier to Use
FieldCam gives your iPad all the functionality of a Victorian plate camera (only with worse photos) There aren’t many iPad photo-taking apps yet, although there are plenty for editing. This may be because the iPad 2 is so new. It may also be because the iPad’s camera is so awful, an embarrassment along the lines of putting a pair of drum brakes onto Alberto Contador’s race bike. One thing is...

Chilling account from the photographer of the crashed US fighter jet.
I pointed my camera and saw the jet in my lens. And then, poof, the plane started crashing — crashing and crashing. And I was shooting and shooting. Then, boom! And it was a few blocks away from the hotel.

Lightbox Photos, connect the Android camera with social networks – something existing apps haven’t achieved to the same extent. I’ve seen a demo of the app and it works very well. Instead of requiring a constant network connection to show photos backed up onto the Lightbox servers, the app will run in background to sync your photos so you can can use Lightbox Photos while offine, thus making...

Tunisia, Egypt, Miami: The Importance of Internet...
I’m sure I’m not the only who has thought: Could the Internet be shutdown in the US? The effect would be huge and by far much more global, as compared to other recent shutdowns including the one in Egypt. As this article from the Atlantic alludes, Verizon is taking one step closer to that possibility. The NAP of Americas is truly pivotal. Peering points also play an important...

At the opening celebration, the popular blogging platform’s founder spoke extensively about the startup’s plans for the future — plans that definitely set it apart from the product-focused startup scene on the West Coast and plans that will make the most of the company’s recent $30 million round of funding.
He’s even making community management, especially in creative communities such as...
